KATRINA PORTER - PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
Katrina Porter is the owner and principal designer of Katrina Porter Designs, an interior design studio located in Mountain Brook, AL, a suburb of Birmingham. An award winning kitchen designer, Katrina is best known for the dramatic transformations of the spaces in which homeowners entrust to her. Specializing in high-end kitchen and bathroom renovation design, Katrina is committed to providing exceptional design solutions for her clients.
Katrina distinguishes herself as a visionary designer. A brilliant engineer once told her, “Make the easy things look hard and the hard things look easy.” Katrina studies appliance trends and specifications, researches hinges, and cabinet construction. She has developed long standing relationships with builders and fabricators who bring her visions to life. Most recently she collaborated with a stone fabricator and a builder in order to carry out her vision for a freestanding stone slab shower partition. She has also designed a variety of custom steel hoods. Katrina puts immense time into preparation during the design process so that the finished results look effortless.
Many of Katrina’s kitchen renovation projects have found their way onto the pages of Birmingham Home and Garden Magazine and StyleBlueprint. She has had the opportunity to appear as a designer on Fix It and Finish It (available on Netflix) and she has appeared as a guest multiple times on ABC 33/40’s Talk of Alabama. In addition to the projects Katrina has in Birmingham, she has also designed kitchens and bathrooms across the great state of Alabama including: a new construction hunting lodge with rustic finishes and a modern Victorian home restored to reflect its glory in a historic neighborhood. Furthermore, Katrina has projects across the United States including: a contemporary kitchen in Oregon, a comfortable cottage aesthetic in Virginia, and two Kosher kitchens in historic Williamsburg, New York.
